Why you should choose a major in finance

Marian’s finance program combines classroom learning with hands-on experience. You’ll analyze financial data, develop investment strategies, and work on real-world case studies—gaining the skills that set you apart in internships, interviews, and your career. 

  • Investments: Manage an investment portfolio, present to stakeholders and learn investment skills from Austin Crites, CFA. 
  • Internships: 100% of students complete one finance internship. 
  • Mergers and acquisitions: Conduct real-world consulting exercises such as identifying and analyzing acquisition targets for clients such as Eli Lilly, Danaher, Cummins, and Elanco. 
  • Competitions: Compete in the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) research challenge. 

What you’ll learn

The 128-credit finance degree includes general education, business and finance core courses, and electives. 

Old National Bank (ONB), Indiana’s largest bank, has partnered with Marian University to offer students access to ONB’s Real Life Finance digital platform 

The Bisigne Acuere Society is a distinctive investments program under the guidance of Austin, Crites, CFA. Students will apply the knowledge provided by financial research in asset pricing, behavioral finance, agency costs, and market efficiency and incorporate it into their analysis, portfolio management techniques, and recommendations.
