Biography

Dr. Pepin is originally from Washington state in the South Puget Sound area and moved to Indiana in 2019.  She has a husband and one child.  Dr. Pepin has been a nursing faculty since 2007  and joined the team at Marian University in 2019.  She has worked in BSN, Accelerated BSN, entry-level masters, MSN, and DNP programs. She has taught undergraduate courses in advanced nursing competencies didactic and lab, Med/Surg nursing didactic and clinical, transitions to practice, senior capstone/immersion/preceptorship didactic and clinical, and nursing research & informatics.  She has taught care & outcomes manager didactic and clinical, nursing research, and 1st reader on SNRA DNP projects in graduate programs. She has a passion for nursing education, end-of-life care, self-care, transition to practice, and mentoring.

Research Interests and Focus

  • Research interests include testing reaction time to novel situations, Liberal Arts use in nursing, expectations on student knowledge of statistics in nursing, simulation use in FNP programs, faculty self-care, and other SOTL topics.  Her PhD dissertation research study was a nation-wide survey titled The Prevalence and Use of High-Fidelity Simulation in Family Nurse Practitioner Programs in the United States.

Personal Interests

Dr. Pepin has volunteered as faculty advisor to the Pacific Lutheran University NSNA chapter (Delta Iota Chi) and Nursing Students of Washington State.  She also volunteered and/or supervised student volunteers in events such as new faculty orientation, flu shot clinics, Make it Happen!, Multicare Nurse Camp, National Business Week – Healthcare Week, the NEXUS Student Advisory Board, and other university related events.  During this time she was awarded Outstanding Club Advisor of the Year Award and the Promise of Nursing for Washington Regional Faculty Fellowship award. During her undergraduate college years, Dr. Pepin played NCAA D3 Women’s Ice Hockey at Wisconsin-Superior and her team was inducted into the Superior Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015.  After graduating from UWS, Dr. Pepin then became the women’s division commissioner for the American Collegiate Hockey Association for several years.  Her favorite hobbies are pumpkin carving and decorating Christmas cookies.
