From the CIO
My apologies for another email regarding Cyber Security, however, our State Internet provider, I-Light, provided us with a list of “at risk” accounts last night. While this is common, it was much larger than in the past. The list is generated through an algorithm looking at suspect accounts that may be breached or at risk of becoming breached. The team suspects this large number of accounts is due to increased activity on the part of I-Light in an attempt to ensure the security of it’s network. We had several individuals on that list although several are old, inactive. Those individuals on that list will be forced to change their password upon login this morning. If you hear your neighbor having to change his or her password this morning, let them know about this. No further action will be required at this time.
Anyone having issues can contact the IT Help Desk as they are aware and already working with a couple users.

Unfortunately, this is the world we live in right now and please know the IT team is doing everything possible to protect the assets of all Marian University’s Students, Faculty, and Staff. System Maintenance and Status
Information Technology strives to make all Marian University systems available with as limited interruption's to service as possible; however, ongoing enhancements and improvements are employed to continuously enrich and protect the Marian University technology experience. These activities are completed through scheduled maintenance as necessary. Routine maintenance is limited to Sundays between 12:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Any intermittent access, unavailability, or isolated issues experienced with Marian University systems during this timeframe do not need to be reported. Notice of any other emergency maintenance or system outages will be provided.
