Marian University’s Byrum School of Business Named Top 10 Best Catholic Undergraduate Business Schools

by Glendal Jones | Feb 08, 2022
Marian named one of the best undergraduate business schools.

It's another distinction to be proud of as Marian University’s Byrum School of Business ranked in the top ten among Catholic schools in the Best Undergraduate Business Schools 2022 rankings by Poets&Quants, the leading online publication for undergraduate business education news.

This distinction placed Marian University in the category of schools such as Georgetown University, University of Notre Dame, Villanova University, Seton Hall University, and more. Greg Rawski, Ph.D., dean of Marian University’s Byrum School of Business said, “We are thrilled to be recognized for the second straight year by 2022 Poets&Quants for Undergrads which continues our momentum in educating and forming transformational business leaders who are trustworthy, healthy, inquisitive, and skilled.”

No wonder Dr. Rawski and others are proud. The Byrum School of Business ranked #9 in the top 10 best Catholic undergraduate business schools and achieved an overall ranking of 56. It’s the most comprehensive assessment of undergraduate business programs at private and public institutions.

The accolades are impressive. Of the ranked business schools, Marian placed #1 in Career Placement Rate and #1 in Internship Rate. Through Marian University’s career placement office, The Exchange, who was recognized in 2021 and 2022 as a Career Development College of Distinction, 100 percent of 2021 graduates had at least one business-specific internship before graduating and 100 percent of job-seeking graduates found employment.

Marian University was also ranked #15 nationally and #2 in the Midwest in minority student percentage. That’s great news according to Marian University Orr Fellow Sandy Sledge ’22. “As a minority student, this ranking portrays what I experience with Dean Rawski’s leadership daily,” she said. “Diversity and inclusion have been a forefront topic for the Byrum School of Business and I hope this ranking attracts more minority students to learn about Marian University and what values Marian brings to each individual.”

“We believe the quality of business education comes down to three core issues,” said Nathan Allen, project manager for Poets&Quants for Undergrads. “The quality of the raw talent coming through the door, what a school does with that talent over four years, and finally how the marketplace responds to the graduates coming off campus.”

Poets&Quants for Undergrads compiled the 2022 rankings based on a representative survey of over 5,400 alumni and school-reported data. The survey methodology focused on three main components school admissions standards, alumni perspectives on the academic experience, and employment outcomes data. Recent grads across the 95 schools were surveyed on aspects of faculty availability, extracurricular opportunities, and accessibility of the alumni network.
