What we're up to right now...
Students return to campus this month, and the Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement is already busy preparing for a very full and exciting homecoming and gala weekend from October 24-27. We’re especially excited about a discounted offer for alumni that includes tickets to the Thrive Gala and all Homecoming Weekend events and activities, if purchased by September 15.
If you haven’t attended the gala before, I encourage you to try it. Along with nearly 2,000 of Marian’s closest friends, you will enjoy more than a delicious meal, open bar, live music, and dancing. You will also have the opportunity to learn the latest and greatest about Marian University’s impact on students and the community at large. This year we’ll hear about how Marian is thriving and benefiting our community. We’ll also highlight the beautiful imagery of The Saint John’s Bible in the décor. I have had the good fortune to attend the last seven galas, and have been inspired by what I experience every single year. No one ever regrets attending a Marian University gala!
Homecoming weekend signature events begin with the always popular Trick-or-Treat and Thirsty Thursday, the Thrive Gala Friday night, tailgating, Knights vs. Lawrence Technological University football game, Mass in honor of deceased alumni, and the All-Alumni Celebration on Saturday. This year we are offering additional events on Sunday, including Sunday Mass, lunch, and an afternoon concert featuring Steinway artist, Theresa Walters. I hope you will join us.
I am especially excited about the Homecoming Weekend Thirsty Thursday at Sommers Mansion, home to the Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement and the Office of Institutional Advancement. This is the “newest” mansion on Marian’s property, and is located at 3650 Cold Spring Road at the top of the hill by Cold Spring Elementary School. If you haven’t been inside this mansion yet, you will be delighted by all the ambiance and personality of this building.
Visit marian.edu/homecoming for a full list of the activities, and to make your reservations for Homecoming and Gala Weekend 2019.
Another exciting addition to campus this year is The Saint John’s Bible. All alumni are invited to come see the Bible or to participate in bible-related activities—even train to be a docent. Watch this newsletter and the campus events calendar for upcoming programs and activities and direct all inquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Check out what else is going on in the monthly newsletter. Go, Knights!
