Who can live here: Students who are 21 years of age by August 31, in their final year of college (May graduates only), OR have completed two or more full years of college before August and at least one of those semesters has been at Marian (no new/transfer students). All residents must meet GPA/Involvement criteria, have no outstanding student conduct history, and live in the house for both semesters

Amenities: Vary but generally include two to five bedrooms, one to two bathrooms, living room, dining room, full-kitchen, basement, washer/dryer. Houses include twin XL beds (like the residence halls), but no other furniture.  Students must work with others in the house to provide common area furniture and connect internet, if desired. The cost of all utilities (outside of internet) is included in your room charge on your student bill.

Room layouts: Single, double, or triple.  Shape and size of rooms vary significantly. Most students should expect to share a bedroom with at least one other student. Most campus houses are one story with a basement. Some houses have a second story.

Application information can be found here.

The Dorothy Day House and the Peter Maurin House

Who can live here: Non-first year women (DDH) or men (PMH) who are interested in giving back to their community through educational programming and service. Residents of these houses must live in the house for the full academic year and must enroll in SOC-201 for both semesters.

DDH Amenities:  Five bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room, dining room, full-kitchen, basement, washer/dryer. This house has twin XL beds and some basic common area furniture including a couch, dining table, and chairs. Students must supply their own bedroom furnishings outside of beds (dressers, for example) and any other items needed for the space. Internet must be provided by the residents if desired. Up to ten students can live in this four-bedroom house.

PMH Amenities: Bedroom count varies year to year based on interest and final group size. At least two bedrooms plus one full bathroom, living room, dining room, full-kitchen, basement,  and washer/dryer are provided in the house. There is no furniture provided outside of the twin XL beds in the bedrooms. Residents must provide all other furniture they wish to have in the house.  Internet must be provided by the residents if desired.

DDH/PMH Application Process:

  1. Students complete the Academic Year 2026-2027 On-Campus Housing Application on StarRez
  2. Students submit their name and answers to DDH/PMH application questions via interest list form before 12pm (noon) on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
  3. By the end of the day on Friday, March 6, 2026, we will send offers to students to live in either the DDH or the PMH via Marian email.
  4. Once all offers are accepted, we will also let students who were not selected for these houses know that they should participate in room selection (beginning the last week of March).

Residents of either house do not need to complete the on-campus house application form if only interested in the DDH/PMH. Residents do need to complete the general on-campus housing application on StarRez.
