Select a Room in a Residence Hall - Students Under 21

Applications are currently open for the 2026-27 academic year.  Students interested in housing for the 27-28 academic year may apply once applications open in January 2027. After the room selection process closes each year, all new applicants will be assigned a room by Residential and Commuter Life staff.

If you are a returning student who wants to live on campus in a residence hall for the next academic year, you will complete your room selection online (process begins the last week of March).  If you miss room selection, our staff will assign you to a space based on room availability and roommate profiles.

  • Click here for more information on housing options for returning students.
  • If you have questions or concerns, contact Residential and Commuter Life at housing@marian.edu or (317) 955-6318.

Step One: Complete Your Application(s)

  • All students who wish to live on campus (either in a residence hall or in an on-campus house) must complete the online application on StarRez. We recommend you complete your application as soon as possible so you have plenty of time to work on roommate groups and get your questions answered.
  • Detailed application instructions with photos may be downloaded here: Returning Student Housing Instructions.

Step Two (Optional): Create a Roommate Group

  1. After everyone has completed their on-campus housing applications, create a roommate group inside the application.
  2. Give the group a memorable name and add roommates using their email addresses. You must have the exact email address that is listed in their application, they must have completed an application for the same academic year, and they must be the same gender as you.
  3. Once the roommate group is created, all group members must agree to join the group.  If you do not all accept the invitation to be in the group, you will not be able to pull one another into a room or suite during room selection and will not be assigned together.
  4. If you do not create a roommate group you will be matched with a roommate after room selection ends.
  5. Returning students who wish to room with a new student should email our office for instructions.

Step Three: Select Your Room for 26-27

  • Juniors: Started Fall 2023

On-Campus House Applications - Students 21+

Like in the residence halls, students in the houses live mostly in double rooms, though there are some singles and triples.  The on-campus house application process is open until February 25, 2026. We are accepting applications for on-campus house residents for the full 26-27 academic year.

The application process for the on campus houses happens separately from the room selection process. Students will receive notification of their placement, or lack thereof, before room selection begins to ensure those who are not offered places in an on-campus house may still select their own residence hall room, if desired.

  • Students must fill out the general on campus housing application on StarRez first.
  • There is an additional application students complete for the campus houses. Applications for campus houses are due February 25, 2026. Offers will be extended over spring break and students have until March 10 to accept or decline their assignment by having one person in the roommate group email housing@marian.edu.
  • Students who are not assigned to a house, or decline their assignment, are able to participate in the general room selection process and choose a room in a residence hall.
  • Students must form a roommate groups to be considered for a house assignment. The smallest group allowed is two students. All students in the roommate group must meet the following qualifications for the group to be eligible for a placement in an on-campus house.  Qualifications include being 21 years old before August 31, 2026, be May 2027 graduates, OR have completed at least two full years of college before August 2026 with at least one semester at Marian.  All students must also:
    • have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5,
    • have no outstanding student conduct cases,
    • be in good academic standing, and
    • have never been on housing probation
  • Complete the 26-27 on-campus house application here.

Off-Campus Housing for Returning Students

Students who apply to live on campus before May 15—and who subsequently decide (and are approved) to live off-campus AFTER May 15—are subject to cancellation fees. The fee structure is as follows:

  • Cancellations after May 15: $500
  • Cancellations after August 1: $750
  • Cancellations after the first week of the fall semester: $1,000

Single Room Applications

Single rooms are available only as a disability or medical accommodation. Medical singles may be requested by contacting the Personalized Learning Center at PLC@marian.edu. You will not be able to select these rooms during the room selection process. Be sure to sign up for a double or triple room while your housing accommodation request is being processed to ensure you have a space on campus. If you have already been approved for a medical single, you do not need to participate in room selection. A room that fits your accommodation will be assigned to you during the summer.

Students with approved single room accommodations for the next academic year who participate in room selection will not be assigned a single room. Participating in room selection tells our staff you wish to forgo your single room and live with a roommate.
