What if I cannot attend the commencement rehearsal?

If a situation arises that will not allow you to attend the mandatory rehearsal, you may pick up your packet containing your 3 tickets, honors tassel if you have earned honors, and seating chart from the Marian University Police Station located in the Ruth Lilly Center. The tickets will be available starting 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 8 through 8:45 a.m. Saturday May 11. They are open 24 hours, 7 days a week. Please bring your ID. The seating chart and other handouts distributed at the rehearsal are posted on this web site under graduation related documents.

Dress Code

There is no specific dress code, but please dress appropriately and respectfully for your commencement ceremony. No specific color shoes are required. Women are not required to wear dresses or skirts if they chose to wear pants instead. Please do not wear decorations or jewelry on your gown. Because we do always plan to have an outdoor ceremony, please dress accordingly. We encourage students to wear sunscreen and comfortable shoes for walking from the PE Center to the St.Vincent Health Field.

How long is the ceremony?

You should plan for the ceremony to last at least two hours.

Weather

If severe weather causes the ceremony to be moved indoors to the Physical Education Center, tickets will be required. Each graduate will receive three guest tickets at the rehearsal. See the ticket information page for more information regarding guest tickets. The final determination if the ceremony must be moved indoors will not be made until the morning of the ceremony. Graduates will be notified by voice mail.

When Do I Get My Diploma?

You will not receive your diploma at the May 2013 Commencement Ceremony. Diplomas may be picked up in person from the Office of the Registrar in Marian Hall 104 from Monday, June 3 to Friday June 28, 2013. Diplomas not picked up by June 28, 2013 will be mailed to the home address on file with the university. It is the student's responsibility to make sure that the Office of the Registrar has the correct address for the mailing of the diploma and pictures taken at commencement. Diplomas are only issued to graduates who have completed all academic work and paid all balances due.
