Admission Requirements
- A BSN from an ACEN or CCNE-accredited program
- Official university undergraduate and graduate transcripts from all colleges and universities attended. The minimum acceptable overall GPA is 3.00 or higher (on a 4.00 scale). The committee will review the overall undergraduate GPA, graduate degree GPA (if applicable), and the GPA from the last 60 credit hours completed. The highest of these three options will be used for admission consideration.
- Current, valid RN license
- Current resume or CV
- A 500-word personal statement
- Three letters of recommendation from academic or professional references. One letter must be from a critical care supervisor.
- Shadowing form
- Interview with the Admissions Committee
- One year of critical care (ICU) experience is required. (Level I/II trauma center intensive care experience preferred). Although beneficial, experience in the ER/ED and Neonatal ICU (NICU) will not meet this requirement.
- CCRN certification and score report
- Prerequisite course (Due prior to matriculation): Three (3) semester hours or equivalent quarter hours of a graduate-level statistics course completed with a grade of B or better at a CHEA and USDE-approved college or university taken within the past five years.
Application Information
- Applications are accepted through the graduate admissions application portal.
- Supplemental application instructions will be provided after the application is submitted.
- Letters of recommendation may be submitted by the recommenders to GRadmissions@marian.edu or the applicant may initiate the recommendation form from within the application portal. (The latter is preferred.)
- Shadow verification forms may be submitted by the applicant or by the person they shadowed.
- Official transcripts should be sent electronically to GRadmissions@marian.edu.
- A completed application and supporting documents must be received by the Office of Graduate Admission by September 8, 2026. Applications will be reviewed for interview consideration.
- Final decisions will be released in November.

Steps to Apply to our Nurse Anesthetist Program:
- Create your account through the application portal.
- Enter your contact information.
- Under "Enrollment information," choose the following:
- Choose Doctorate: Students applying for an EdD or DNP in the “I intend to enroll as a ___ student” field.
- Choose Nurse Anesthesia - DNP under the "My chosen area of study is" field.
- Choose Summer for the "I plan to start classes" field.
- Click “Proceed to step 2.”
- Verify the program selection and then click “Next” to access the application.
- Complete and submit the application.
- Sending supporting documents: Go to the instructions tab located in the admissions portal.
Official Transcripts:
To be official, transcripts must be sent directly from the college or university to Marian University.

Prerequisite Requirement
A graduate-level statistics course is required prior to matriculation in the program. Marian University offers BMS 511 Biostatistics in a 5-week online format once per semester. To register for this course, apply as a non-degree-seeking graduate student.
How to Register for BMS 511 Biostatistics:
- Create your account through the application portal.
- Enter your contact information.
- Under "Enrollment information," choose the following:
- Choose Doctorate – Biostatistics Course (for DNP students) in the “I intend to enroll as a ___ student” field.
- Choose Spring, Summer, or Fall for the "I plan to start classes" field.
- Click “Proceed to step 2.”
- Verify the program selection and then click “Next” to access the application.
- Complete and submit the application.
