Office of Academic Integration

The Office of the Provost is proposing the creation of the Office of Academic Integration. This office will help integrate and oversee the various academic programs which span colleges and programs. If you have any questions or suggestions about this initiative, please use the Feedback Form to share your thoughts.

Mission

The Office of Academic Integration supports the university-wide integration of the Transformational Journey Program and strategic alignment of both curricular and co-curricular programs with the university’s Institutional Learning Outcomes.

Overview

The Office of Academic Integration (OAI) aligns Marian University’s academic programing to help achieve the strategic direction and mission of the university. Through shared learning outcomes and experiences, the OAI will oversee the Transformational Journey Program, specifically including the areas of FYS & HWB seminars, Humanities, Speaking and & Writing across/within the curriculum initiatives, Community-Engaged Learning and the assessment of these programs. The office will support student learning initiatives that span the university with special attention to leadership and TJP threads. As such, the OAI will involve stakeholders throughout campus to help better align effort, foster effective communication, and achieve shared goals.

Structure

The Office of Academic Integration will serve as an interdisciplinary hub that fosters innovative and multidisciplinary collaborations strategically designed to support Marian’s commitment to provide students with excellent teaching and learning in the Franciscan and liberal arts tradition. The development of excellent learners requires the intentional integration of all aspects of a student’s journey, both curricular and co-curricular. A foundational partnership with the Center for Student Success and Engagement in addition to collaborations with The Center for Teaching & Learning, the Library, Educational Assessment, and the Teaching and Learning Committee provide an opportunity to engage faculty and staff in this work by fostering an environment of collaboration and multidisciplinary innovation. As a vital part of the university’s mission to educate transformational leaders, the OAI is housed in the Office of the Provost and directed by a Dean who reports through the Assistant Provost for Teaching & Learning. This structure will support the holistic integration and alignment of Marian’s ILOs and the actualization of the Marian Promise.
