If a student is going to miss less than a week of class, handle the missed attendance according to the stated policy in your syllabus.
If a student misses or plans to miss more than a week of class, please inform Student Success and Engagement through an email to Karen Candlish at firstname.lastname@example.org. She will follow up with the student and inform the student’s faculty if the absences should be excused.
Athletes are excused for competitions and travel to the competition, but not for practices or meetings. However, at times, travel days may include a morning practice.
If you have a question or concern about the absences requested or taken from an athlete, you can contact the Assistant Provost for Teaching and Learning at email@example.com for guidance. She will work with you to determine what is best for the student’s academic progress given the situation.
