Biography

My first research project was as an undergraduate lab technician on the original study (Wood, Haskell, et al.) linking the ratio of HDL to LDL cholesterol to regular physical exercise and heart disease. Since then, have authored or co-authored 21 peer-reviewed research publications, 5 book chapters and review articles, and over 100 presentations made at National and International science meetings and symposia. During that time, was the recipient (as either principal investigator, co-investigator, or collaborative investigator) of more than $1,000,000 in research grant funding from the National Institutes of Health, National Aeronautics and Space Administration, American Heart Association (National and Texas Affiliate), the Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
