With laddered coursework, you’ll progress from foundational classes to advanced topics and real-world experiences. Each course challenges you to think critically, collaborate, and engage with today’s civic and ethical issues.

  • CIV 100: Moral Capitalism (Spring) Understand the intersection of capitalism and ethics, exploring how businesses can contribute positively to society.
  • CIV 152: Information and Media Literacy (Spring) Navigate today’s complex media landscape, develop critical media skills, and understand the power of information.
  • CIV 240: Legacies of Liberty (Fall) Dive into the history of liberty, democracy, and civic values, examining how these ideas shape our world today.
  • CIV 300: Adaptive Leadership (Spring) or CIV 304: Business Ethics (Fall) Choose between exploring adaptive leadership skills or learning ethical decision-making in a business context.
  • CIV 460: Internship / Field Work / Capstone Project (Every Semester) Put theory into action through internships, fieldwork, or a capstone project in a real-world setting.
  • To fulfill the Business and Civics Experiential Requirement of ‘3’ credit hours, course options include:

    BUS110 (3 credits): Business Plan Competition (Every Semester)
    MGT325 (3 credits): Business Consulting: A-Team (Every Semester)
    COM203 (1-2 credits): Forensics/Speech & Debate Team (Every Semester)
    GLS290 (1 credit): Model United Nations (Every Semester)
    PHL115 (1-2 credits): Ethical Analysis in Practice/Ethics Bowl (Every Fall Semester)

Beyond the Classroom
