Dr David Eland

Biography

Dr. Eland joined the Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MU-COM) faculty in July 2020. Prior to joining MU-COM, Dr. Eland was a tenured professor at Ohio University – Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine (OU-HCOM) in the Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM) department. During his twenty-five years with OU-HCOM, Dr. Eland served in many roles, including teaching faculty, department chair, OMM clinical director and ONMM residency program director. He is a 1984 graduate of the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Dr. Eland has been involved in Osteopathic clinical practice for thirty-five years, the first ten in private practice in Indianapolis and Minneapolis. He earned his board certification in 1992 and his Fellowship in the American Academy of Osteopathy (FAAO) in 2000. Teaching for German colleagues, over the last twenty plus years, has been one of the highlights of his career. Various research projects, especially those in collaboration with Dr. Howell, an OU-HCOM physiologist, have been fruitful for promotion of understanding of the physiologic basis for osteopathic manipulative medicine.

He enjoys spending time with his daughter and two granddaughters in Indianapolis. Bicycling, meditation and Argentine tango are his other passions.

Clinical Interests

Dr. Eland continues to promote an evolving approach to osteopathic diagnosis and treatment that is intended to be reasonably accessible to those physicians interested in applying the principles of osteopathy in the primary care and hospital settings.
