Nine Ways to be a Part of the 2014 NAIA Football National Championship

by Katie Bradley | Dec 11, 2014

On Friday, December 19 at 3 p.m., the Marian University Knights will take on the Southern Oregon University Raiders for the NAIA Football National Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida. From seeing the team off, to cheering in the stands, to welcoming the team home, we have a host of ways for you to support the team and be a part of the action. Here's a breakdown:

1. Cheer in the stands.

Race to Daytona and be a part of the game day experience. Make it a week of fun in the sun or just come down for the game. Either way, you can get an ocean-view hotel room for under $100 a day! Start planning your trip now

2. Send off the team.

If you can’t make the trip, come to the Physical Education Center on campus this coming Monday, December 15 at 9:30 a.m. to wish the team luck and show your support.

3. Stuck in Indy? Watch the game on T.V.

If you’re stuck in the Indiana cold, you can watch the game live on ESPNU on Friday, December 19 at 3 p.m.

4. Listen live on the radio.

Listen live on 107.5 the FAN.

5. Host a watch party.

What a perfect excuse for an impromptu alumni reunion. Call your former classmates and get together at a bar or someone's house to watch the game. If you don't want to organize a party, we already have some planned in Indy, Cincinnati, and Chicago. Check the Race to Daytona page for a complete list with locations.

6. Send the team good luck videos, photos, or words.

Chant the fight song, paint your face, do a dance. In your own words and in your own way, wish the football team luck and get them pumped for the championship game. How do you send it? Post in on your choice of social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and tag us in it.

7. Wear your Knight gear on game day.

On Friday, December 19, be sure to wear your blue and gold. If you don’t have any Marian University t-shirts or sweatshirts, it’s the perfect excuse to come back to campus, see the new Alumni Hall (that’s where the bookstore is now), and buy a new shirt. Post photos of you in your gear on social media (don't forget to tag us) and show the world how big Knight Nation is!

8. Follow us on social media.

During Championship Week, we'll be posting daily video updates and the event details from Daytona. If you aren't able to come, watch, or listen to the game, check Facebook and Twitter for live updates throughout.

9. Welcome the team home.

Win or lose, our team has had an incredible year and earned our respect and admiration. Welcome the team home on Saturday, December 20 and show the Knights how proud we are. More details to come.
