Scholarships and Financial Aid

University Scholarships, Grants, and Financial Aid

    • Financial aid: You may be able to use state and federal financial aid to help cover study abroad costs. Once you've selected your program and understand the costs, consult with our Office of Financial Aid.
    • Financial Aid Policy Transfer Policy: Consult the following chart to see if your financial aid will transfer with you abroad. This will vary based on the type of study abroad program you choose and the type of aid you are trying to transfer.

*If you receive federal or state aid and are planning on attending a program that is at least 12 weeks long, you are eligible to apply for the Marian University Travel Grant. This grant can also be used for travel expenses such as flights. Details can be found in the MU Study Abroad Canvas course.

**It is generally not in your best interest to use federal/state aid in the summer, as it may take away from the amount that you have for the following academic year. If you would like to use federal or state aid over the summer, speak with financial aid to ensure that you will still have enough to cover your fees for the following year.

***You may be able to use Marian aid to cover the tuition costs of the program if the program occurs during the Spring or Fall semesters, but the additional program fee would not be covered by Marian aid.
