Biography and Research Interest
Dr. Emmanuel Solis is a faculty member in the Biomedical Master's (BMS) program. He joined Marian University in 2026 after completing his Postdoc and PhD in Medical and Molecular Genetics at Indiana University in 2025, with a concentration in bioinformatics. Dr. Solis investigated the role of ETS transcription factors in FGF23 signaling and vitamin D metabolism. During his doctoral training at Indiana University, Dr. Solis investigated the role of NF-κB and FGF23 signaling in the regulation of kidney function and vitamin D metabolism. His doctoral research was supported by a NIH F31 Predoctoral Fellowship. Dr. Solis earned dual degrees in Biology and Biotechnology from California State University San Marcos, along with a minor in Chemistry. During his doctoral training, he participated in the California State University Pre-Professors (PREPP) and Chancellors Doctoral Incentive Program, where he gained early experience in teaching and academic mentorship.
His research investigates the role of E-twenty-six (ETS) family transcription factors in metabolic disease, with a particular focus on how these transcription factors regulate gene expression and chromatin remodeling. His research seeks to understand how signaling pathways influence transcription factor activity and how changes in transcriptional and chromatin states contribute to metabolic disease.
Dr. Solis is broadly interested in molecular genetics, transcriptional regulation, epigenetics, bioinformatics, and the molecular mechanisms underlying metabolic disease. His teaching and research emphasize connecting fundamental concepts in biology with current biomedical research and emerging technologies.
