Shelley Kim, MD, attended medical school at Loma Linda University School of Medicine in Loma Linda, California. During medical school, she spent a year doing a post-sophomore fellowship in Pathology, which solidified her decision to study Pathology in residency.
In 2002, she moved to Indiana to begin her Pathology Residency at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie. Upon completion of her residency in 2006, she began teaching at the Muncie campus of the Indiana University School of Medicine. She was Assistant Professor of Pathology for five years and later Assistant Professor of Histology for three years.
At the point that she and her husband had four children under the age of four, she decided to stay home and be a full-time mom for a while. She values the time that she was able to spend with her children, including the many hours in the car driving them to sporting events and music lessons. Now that all four are in high school, she is looking forward to stepping back into the role of Pathology professor.
She lives with her husband, four teenagers, two dogs, and two cats. She enjoys watching her children play tennis, run cross country, and play in their school’s Wind Ensemble. When she finds time for herself, she enjoys gardening, baking, and reading.
