Biography
Dr. Walsh is the BSW Program Director and an Assistant Professor at Marian University. He is also the Health and Well-Being Seminar Coordinator focusing on holistic health education and engagement of all students on campus. Dr. Walsh received both his MSW and PhD from the Indiana University School of Social Work. Dr. Walsh is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) whose practice experience mostly consisted of providing individual, couples, and family home-based therapy for people involved in the child welfare system. Dr. Walsh focuses his research on social work practitioners, educators, and students with a focus on interprofessional collaboration and education as well as different experiences and decision-making processes social workers engage in across their educational and professional journey.
Dr. Walsh is also an adjunct faculty member for the Women’s College Partnership at Indiana Women’s Prison. Outside of teaching, he works with The Siren to host a podcast called MU Inked where he talks to Marian students, faculty, and staff about their tattoos and the meanings behind them.
When not on campus, Dr. Walsh loves spending time with his wife and children. He coaches several youth sports including soccer, basketball, and lacrosse and still enjoys playing lacrosse himself in a Men’s League, though his conditioning is not what it used to be. Dr. Walsh is constantly listening to music (mostly the grunge/rock/alternative music from the 90’s and 00’s) and is usually watching some TV show or movie about zombies.
