Biography

Dr. Julia Baumgardt earned her Ph.D. in Spanish Literature from Johns Hopkins University. At Marian, she teaches all levels of Spanish language, Spanish for Educators and Teaching World Languages, introductory and advanced literature courses, and upper-level civilization courses, with a specific focus on contemporary Spain. Her research focuses on contemporary Spanish narratives, particularly those that emphasize Spanish medieval history and the role of Muslims and women in Spanish history and society.
