Bio
Cody Hardwick is an assistant professor of exercise science at Marian University, where he teaches courses in strength and conditioning, exercise physiology, and nutrition. His primary academic focus is on preparing students for careers in health, fitness, and human performance by integrating evidence-based practice with practical laboratory experiences. He also contributes to curriculum development within the Program of Exercise and Sport Science.
Before transitioning into academia, Professor Hardwick gained extensive experience in the health and performance field, serving as a strength and conditioning coach and working directly with collegiate athletes to enhance strength, power, and overall performance. His professional background also includes industry certifications through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) and USA Weightlifting along with applied work in personal training, which continues to inform his teaching and mentorship.
Professor Hardwick has always been interested in the underlying mechanisms of human performance. He has taken a non-traditional path to full-time academia by way of spending years being a full-time coach. His years of coaching and researching high-level athletes eventually led him to the role of teaching others. He enjoys bringing his coaching background, perspective, and philosophy to the classroom.

Research Interests
Current area of interest focuses on neuromuscular adaptations with weightlifting programming along with body composition changes throughout cycling athlete's competitive season. Specifically, how does overall program volume change the lean body mass of the cyclist.
