Brian Steuerwald, Ph.D. HSPP

Biography

My name is Brian L. Steuerwald, and I serve as an Assistant Professor of Counseling in the Department of Psychological Science and Counseling. I have worked in higher education for the past 26 years. Prior to that I worked in several mental health counseling settings. Although I have experience working with a variety of age groups on variety of issues, my clinical work largely focused on the assessment and treatment of adolescents.

I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Purdue University at Indianapolis, my Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology, from Ball State University, and my Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I have been a licensed Psychologist in the State of Indiana for 28 years. I am a member of the American Psychological Association and the Indiana Psychological Association.

My research interests have primarily focused on adult depression and personality disorders. My master’s thesis focused on identifying schizotypal personality disorder using a screening survey, and my dissertation examined anger responses in persons with psychopathic traits.
