Biography
Dr. Andres Gutierrez holds a Master’s degree in Plant Pathology and Crop Physiology and a Ph.D. in Plant, Environmental and Soil Sciences from Louisiana State University. His teaching focuses on introductory biology and plant biology.
His research investigates salt tolerance in the model legume Medicago truncatula, combining germination and growth assays with Genome-Wide Association Studies (GWAS) to identify genetic markers and physiological traits linked to stress resilience. He also studies plant–microbe interactions, population genetics, and the effects of abiotic and biotic stresses on plant fitness.
