Commencement participation: Information for students and faculty

Graduate and Undergraduate Baccalaureate Mass

  • Graduates should arrive at 4:10 p.m.
  • Graduates should congregate in the first-floor hallway of Marian Hall. They will process into the chapel during the opening song and following the faculty. (Please see attached diagram)
  • Graduates should not wear their caps, but are asked to wear their gowns. 

Undergraduate students

  • Your commencement ceremony begins at 10 a.m.
  • If you are a graduating undergraduate student, please arrive at 9 a.m. dressed in your cap, gown, and academic regalia.
  • Check-in at the Marian Hall Chapel on the east side of Marian Hall.
  • You will be directed to check-in tables upon entering the lobby. You will obtain a seat number when you arrive and then you will take a seat in the Marian Hall Chapel. Staff will assist provide you some basic instructions before walking you over to the Dining Commons for lineup.
  • Personal belongings are your responsibility. The staging area inside the Chapel and in the Dining Commons will not be secured during the ceremony, so please do not leave valuable personal belongings like purses, phones, wallets, etc. in this space.
  • Families and guests of students are not permitted in the chapel. All guests should head directly to the Arena/Convocation Center. Doors to the Arena/Convocation Center will open at 8:45 a.m.
  • Remember: Your gown and other rented regalia must be returned to the Marian University Bookstore

Undergraduate faculty 

  • The undergraduate ceremony begins at 10 a.m.
  • If you are a faculty member, please report to Clare Hall fully dressed in your academic regalia at 9:15 a.m.
  • Staff will assist you with getting into formation and entering the Arena/Convocation Center, where the ceremony will begin at 10 a.m.
  • Personal belongings are your responsibility.
  • All rented regalia must be returned to the Marian University Bookstore.

Graduate and MU-COM students

  • Your Commencement Ceremony begins at 3 p.m. 
  • If you are a graduating student, please arrive at 2 p.m. dressed in your cap, gown, and academic regalia.
  • DO and DNP graduates will get into formation and line-up in the Dining Commons. You will be directed to check-in tables upon entering the Dining Commons. Staff will assist you in locating your seat and provide instructions on how and when you will enter the Arena/Convocation Center.
  • Masters graduates will get into formation and line-up in the Marian Hall Chapel. You will be directed to check-in tables upon entering the Chapel. Staff will assist you in locating your seat and provide instructions on how and when you will enter the Arena/Convocation Center.
  • Personal belongings are your responsibility. The staging area inside the Dining Commons and Marian Hall Chapel will not be secured during the ceremony, so do not leave valuable personal belongings like purses, phones, wallets, etc. in these spaces.
  • Families and guests of students are not permitted in the Dining Commons or Marian Hall Chapel. All guests should head directly to the Arena/Convocation Center. Doors to the Arena/Convocation Center will open at 1:45 p.m.
