COVID-19 Vaccination Health Professions Policy

Health professions students who engage in a clinical setting are not required by Marian University to receive the COVID-19 vaccination.

It is possible that a clinical affiliate or clinical training site may require students to be fully vaccinated from COVID-19 (as defined by the Center for Disease Control) or have an approved exemption from being vaccinated prior to any clinical exposure or placement. Any requirements to receive the COVID-19 vaccinations, or receive an approved exemption, will be governed by the policies, expectations and requirements of these external partners. A failure to comply with these site-specific requirements may impact clinical placements. This may affect a student’s ability to progress in the curriculum or satisfy the requirements necessary for degree completion and graduation. It is the responsibility of the student to ensure they are compliant with all requirements of an individual site prior to placement.

If a student tests positive for COVID, isolation requirements will be established in compliance with the CDC recommendations. It is possible for a student who tests positive and asymptomatic to participate in campus-based activities, but they may not be able to participate in a clinical environment based upon the internal policies and processes of the clinical site.
