Welcome Week

The Marian University campus community celebrates the start of a new academic year by welcoming new and returning students back to campus with a week of fun events and activities.

Please see below for a few of our featured events and activities you can look forward to. Full schedules will be posted on campus and sent to students in August.

Friday, August 15, 2025

  • First-Year Move In, 9:00-1:00 p.m.
    First-year student who are not part of an early move in group will move in the morning or early afternoon of Friday. Keep an eye on your Marian inbox for more information from Residential and Commuter Life about move in.
  • New Student Convocation, 3:00 p.m.
    Arena & Convocation Center
    Attending convocation is a tradition for all new students. It is our induction ceremony where you will officially become a Knight! Families are welcome and livestreaming will be available for families unable to join in person. We ask that students dress business casual for this event.
  • Floor Meetings & Commuter Meeting, 7:00 p.m./4:15 p.m.
    Residence Hall Floors & Dining Commons PDR (for commuters)
    All students will have a residence hall floor meeting or a commuter meeting to participate in. The commuter meeting will at 4:15 p.m. in the Dining Commons PDR. Residential floor meetings will be at 7:00 p.m. in students' residence halls.
  • First KNIGHT at Marian, 8:00 p.m.
    Franciscan Heritage Fountain
    Join us for our first big social event of the year! Music, games, prizes, snacks, and more! Kick off the year with a night of fun and meeting new people.

Opening Weekend, August 16 & 17, 2025

  • Target Takeover
    Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
    Get all the supplies you need to start the school year. A free shuttle will depart regularly from Doyle Hall. The last shuttle will depart campus at 5:00 p.m. Join us for pizza, raffle prizes, and more.
  • Student Athlete Convocation
    Sunday at 6:00 p.m., Arena & Convocation Center
    Athletes are invited to kick off the new year at this event with their coaches and athletics staff!
  • Mass Before Class
    Sunday at 7:30 p.m., Bishop Chartrand Memorial Chapel
    Come participate in our first all-campus Mass of the school year!
  • President’s Ice Cream Social
    Sunday at 8:30 p.m., Dining Commons
    Enjoy fellowship and frozen treats following Mass!

First Week featured events, August 18-22, 2025

  • Back to School Bingo
    Monday at 7:00 p.m., Alumni Hall
    Load up on school supplies and other prizes with some fun games of Bingo.
  • The Big Event
    Tuesday at 7:00 p.m., Allen Whitehill Clowes Amphitheater
    Hosted by the Office of Campus Ministry, The Big Event is an opportunity for all students to enjoy some live bands, free t-shirts, and food truck treats.
  • Shot of Reality & Root Beer Kegger
    Thursday at 7:00 p.m., MU Theater & Doyle Hall
    Join us for a night of alcohol awareness, comedy, and building community on campus with this MU tradition hosted by Residential & Commuter Life.
  • Movie Night
    Friday at 7:00 p.m., Alumni Hall
    Come watch a movie on the big screens and enjoy snacks in Alumni Hall to wrap up the first week of classes.
