What Should I Pack?

Here is a list of items to bring with you and items to leave at home. When you receive your roommate's contact information, it's a good idea to connect with your roommate so you can discuss what each of you plan to bring to campus.

Painters tape and 3M products are the preferred products to use to hang items in your room. Any damage caused to walls will incur a monetary fine based on the extent of the damage and the cost to repair it.

  • Athletic equipment
  • Bath robe
  • Bedding (twin extra long)
  • Book bag
  • Calendar
  • Carpet/rug
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Computer
  • Desk lamp
  • Fan
  • Flashlight
  • Laundry basket
  • Microwave (800 watts or less)
  • Personal hygiene items
  • Power strip
  • Prescribed medication in your name
  • Rain jacket
  • Refrigerator (4.3 cubic feet or less)
  • School supplies
  • Shower bag/caddy
  • Shower shoes
  • Television
  • Tools (basic)
  • Towels
  • Umbrella

What Not To Bring

  • Air fryers
  • Alcohol of any kind, even if for decoration (if under 21 and/or in a dry building)
  • Candles (even if the wick is not burned)
  • Coffee maker w/open heat source (drop coffee pots)
  • Crock pots
  • Darts/dart boards (metal or plastic)
  • Expensive jewelry* 
  • Extension cords
  • Fake weapons (including Orbeez, Nerf, water guns, or any similar products)
  • Firearms, weapons, or fireworks (knives must be under 3 inches)
  • George Foreman and other grills
  • Heirlooms*
  • Hot plates
  • Large refrigerators
  • Large stereos or speakers
  • Lava lamps
  • Lighters or other accelerants
  • Nails for walls
  • Pets or pet supplies (only fish allowed)
  • Space heaters
  • Toasters and toaster/convection ovens
  • Wax warmers (unless a lightbulb melts the wax)
*While these are not policy violations, we do not recommend bringing irreplaceable items to campus.
