Lugar Fellow Global Studies Scholar Opportunity
At Marian University, we offer the Saint Christopher Scholarship, inspired by the patron saint of travelers, dedicated to supporting students pursuing Global Studies at Marian. We also offer the Lugar Fellow Global Studies Scholar Opportunity, which provides a $2,000 annual award, renewable each year, for students pursuing a major or minor in Global Studies at Marian University.
Rooted in the Franciscan Values of Dignity of the Individual, Responsible Stewardship, and Peace & Justice, this program aims to prepare students who are curious about exploring diverse cultures, understanding international interactions, and pursuing impactful careers in global affairs, diplomacy, and cross-cultural leadership.
Eligibility
To be considered for the Saint Christopher or Lugar Fellow Global Studies Scholar Opportunity, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Incoming Freshmen:
- Admission to Marian University by November 1.
- Have a minimum high school GPA of 3.75.
- Transfer Students:
- Have a minimum college GPA of 3.00.
- Strong potential for leadership and academic success.
- Interest in global issues, foreign language study, and study abroad opportunities.
- Saint Christopher Scholarship:
- Declared major in Global Studies.
- Lugar Fellow:
- Major or minor in Global Studies.
- Commitment to an educational experience guided by Marian University's Franciscan values of dignity, peace, justice, reconciliation, and responsible stewardship.
Application Process
To apply for the Lugar Fellow Global Studies Scholar Opportunity, you must complete the Lugar Fellow Global Studies Scholar Application by November 15.
- Complete the Lugar Fellow Global Studies Scholar Application .
- Award notifications will begin in mid-December.
Renewal and Requirements
The Lugar Fellow Global Studies Scholar Opportunity is renewable for up to seven semesters, provided the student:
- Maintains a minimum college GPA of 3.00.
- Continues to pursue the Global Studies minor.
- Actively participates in Global Studies co-curricular activities, including but not limited to:
- Assisting with and attending Marian University's Global Studies Speaker Series and other public events.
- Engaging with the community through relevant outreach and initiatives.
