Congratulations on your acceptance to Marian University! Not only will you be making the transition to college life, but also to Indiana. Through New Student Orientation, we are here to help you become familiar with campus and ensure you're able to complete all required steps to start classes at Marian.
The following information applies to students coming to Marian from outside of the United States (international students) and students who live further than a 5-hour drive from campus (long distance students).
Incoming international and long-distance students will have the opportunity to participate in New Student Orientation on Thursday, August 18th, where you’ll get to know the campus and learn important information for starting classes at Marian. To make things easier for you, we allow these students to register for classes prior to Orientation in a process we call Distance Advising. Through our Distance Advising process, your academic advisor will reach out to you via your Marian email during a specific week in the summer and work with you to choose your fall classes. This is a major step for you in the enrollment process, and completing this early will make things easier for you when you arrive on campus in August.
To complete Distance Advising, all you need to do is register for the Orientation date when you’d like your Distance Advising to take place. For example, if you register for the June 2-3 Orientation as an international student, your academic advisor will connect with you for Distance Advising on those dates, and then you will attend Orientation on August 18 when you’re on campus. You can register for your preferred date at marian.edu/orientation. To sign in, you will use the same email address and password you created when you applied to Marian.
As your selected date approaches for Distance Advising, we will be reaching out to you with some additional steps you need to complete prior to course registration. These include accessing your MU email account and clearing some important steps that open up course registration for you. Please make sure to get these steps accomplished prior to your advising, so you’re ready to select your classes when your advisor reaches out.
2022 summer New Student Orientation programs take place on the following dates:
