First-Year Seminar

As a new student, you will complete a three-credit course titled FYS 110: First-Year Seminar. This gateway course is intended to help you develop critical thinking, information literacy, global awareness, collaborative learning, and other important skills that will serve you well throughout your college experience.

When you register for classes at New Student Orientation, you will register for an FYS section. FYS classes are offered at four different days and times with a variety of instructors. We also have some themed classes that focus on a unique topic while also addressing important elements of being a first-year college student.

To review our FYS course offerings for the upcoming semester, please visit the orientation Canvas course. All incoming students will receive an email with access to this course about one month prior to their orientation date. The full listing can be found within the Pre-advising Form page.
