Knightcare: COVID-19 Information

COVID-19 safety

We know you are concerned about your health and safety when coming back to campus. With that in mind, we've compiled this list of resources to help you make your move-in back to campus as stress free as possible.

Flu shots are required

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends that everyone over the age of 6 months receive a flu vaccine every season.

Compounding the COVID-19 pandemic with an influenza outbreak on campus would place our university community’s health and safety at risk. To increase the likelihood that the fall 2020 semester is completed safely, flu shots are required by November 1, 2020.

All students, staff, and faculty are required to:

  • Receive a seasonal flu vaccine between August 1, 2020 and November 1, 2020.
  • Complete the Mandatory Flu Shot Documentation form on the Campus Shield app.

If you do not have a smart device you can complete the paper form here. FREE flu vaccines will be offered on campus October. More information to come.

When a student, faculty or staff member can return to school

The purpose of this document is to assist school healthcare staff and public health officials in determining if a student or faculty/staff member needs to be excluded from the facility for COVID-19 quarantine or isolation. The chart uses three criteria to determine this: close contact, symptoms, and COVID-19 test status.

Shield Up, Knights!

Isolation and quarantine

We will require students, faculty, and staff who are symptomatic or who have been exposed to COVID-19 (as defined above) to isolate or quarantine based on recommendations from a health provider. If students have a roommate, we will expect the roommate to quarantine also. Students may continue to participate in classes virtually, and food service and other needs will be coordinated through student services. Faculty and staff may work remotely.

If test results are positive, the impacted resident student(s) will be removed to an isolated room, away from the general population. Healthcare will be provided by the Student Health Center, and other needs will be coordinated by student services. If able, the students may continue to participate in classes virtually. The time in isolation will be determined by the Student Health Center. Non-resident students will be required to remain off campus, follow the care plan of their healthcare provider, and return to campus when allowed by their healthcare provider. Virtual learning and remote work may continue if possible.

We will provide weekly statistical reports about testing, positive tests, and other data through the CampusShield app. In addition, we will be updating the reports every Friday on the COVID-19 Dashboard.
