Lyree Mikhail, MD joined the clinical faculty of Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine (MUCOM) as an Associate Professor in January of 2016. Her responsibilities encompass many areas of clinical medicine with particular focus on Women’s Health. She will develop and streamline this content into multiple courses throughout the four years of curricular continuum with special emphasis on Introduction to Clinical Medicine, Simulation, Bioethics, and the Reproduction and Endocrinology course. She also will play a key role in third and fourth year medical student electives.
Dr. Mikhail earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Purdue University in 1986, followed by her MD degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, MO in 1990. Following a one year internship in Internal Medicine at Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Dr. Mikhail completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at University of Chicago in 1995.
Dr. Mikhail began her academic career at Indiana University School of Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. During her 16 year tenure, she held many educational positions, including Associate Residency Program Director and Statewide Clerkship Director. She developed a national reputation as a respected clinical educator/administrator and has presented at meetings for the Association of Professors of Gynecology and Obstetrics (APGO) and the Council for Residency Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG). In addition, she served the specialty as the ACOG District V Junior Fellow Advisor for many years.
In 2011 she relocated to Connecticut where she accepted the position of Residency Program Director and Director of Maternity Services at Yale University SOM/Bridgeport Hospital. She continued there for four years until relocating back to Indianapolis to join the MU-COM faculty.
