Sr. Norma Honored at Intercultural Ministry Awards Banquet

SSr. Norma Awardr. Norma Rocklage, OSF, Ph.D., '60, executive director for education formation outreach, was honored with the Community Service Award at the Archdiocese of Indianapolis’ Intercultural Ministry Awards Dinner on Saturday, April 23.

For the last 40 years, Sr. Norma has worked with several dioceses for adult education and conducted workshops in religious education. Committed to her community, Sr. Norma serves on several boards including the Center for Interfaith Collaboration, the West Deanery Unified Catholic School, and the steering committee for Spirit and Place. As director of the Indiana Catholic Principals Institute, Sr. Norma brings together Catholic principals from across the state to learn from one another, discuss education, and share their faith.

Since 1989, Sr. Norma has dedicated much of her ministry to recruiting and supporting Latino students. Through her leadership, Marian University has been involved in Project Stepping Stones Program, which prepares Latino high school students for college, for more than 12 years. 

Beyond the incredible outreach Sr. Norma provides to the Indianapolis community, she is a light to the Marian University campus. Her love, faith, and kindness have nurtured so many throughout her years here. She truly believes in and practices the Franciscan sponsorship values and has worked tirelessly to incorporate these values into every aspect of the university. 

Congratulations on this much-deserved award Sr. Norma. Thank you for being a transformational leader for Marian University and the Indianapolis community.       

The Archdiocese of Indianapolis' Office of Intercultural Ministry, which hosted the awards banquet, seeks to serve all cultural and ethnic communities located in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis and to respond to the needs of all newcomers.The banquet served as a way to celebrate the diversity of the community and honor the commitment of a special few.
