by Mikayla S. Jette '25 | Feb 22, 2023

Shining bright in her own right is Katharine Harmon, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Theology for her new publication. Her work “Guitar Totin’ Nuns and Hand-clappin’ Love Songs: How Implementation of the Vernacular Transformed American Catholic Church Music” reveals the growth of music genres within the Catholic Church. Her accomplished writing landed her a publication in the journal U.S. Catholic Historian and won the 2022 College Theology Society Best Article Award.

Dr. Harmon expressed how these different styles of music became incorporated and how the Catholic Church responded to these changes. Congratulations Dr. Harmon!
