Students Showcase Artwork in Senior Show

by Amber Ferrari | May 05, 2015

Senior art students exhibited collections of their finest work created during their time at Marian University in the Senior Art Show held in April. After a final review of the show and their art, students will have completed their senior capstone experience and be that much closer to graduation.

The Senior Art Show is often considered the pinnacle of art students’ college careers because a lot of work goes into preparing for this showcase. Each artist chooses a theme to cultivate within their pieces, keeping this theme in mind throughout the development of each work of art. During junior year, faculty critiques students’ work so that feedback can be incorporated into their pieces before the show.

Revising and perfecting artwork for this senior exhibit is time consuming and tedious, but pays off in the end.

Connor Jutte `15, said, “Finally, after four years, it feels really good to see all of my hard work hung on the wall with my peers. I think we are all very talented in our specific field. Without the excellent professors in the art department and their constant support, we would not have made it!”

Jutte is a graphic design major and presented design series for magazines and websites, graphics created in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, and a screen printing piece.

Additional graduating seniors Jordan Barker, Courtney Ca'they, and Adam Swinford presented similar works along with various paintings, sculpture, pottery, and more.

Marian University students always find a way to impact their community whether that is through ministry, athletics, or art. The students participating in the Senior Art Show were able to share the work of their college career, but also leave a lasting impact through their art displayed on campus.

With May quickly approaching, the culmination of classes, co-curricular activities, and so much more is passing fast for Marian University seniors. Congratulations and good luck go out to the art students who impressively shared their senior exhibits with the university and are preparing for graduation.
