by News Release | Dec 07, 2021

Marian University has announced that it will award two full-tuition and ten $10,000 scholarships—a total of $700,000 over four years— to students in the inaugural class of the university’s new E. S. Witchger School of Engineering.

Students who have been accepted to Marian’s engineering program will be eligible to apply for the scholarships, which will be awarded based on academic achievement, as well as leadership and service to the community.

“For the inaugural class of the E. S. Witchger School of Engineering, we are seeking students who desire to be pioneers in building the culture and legacy of our engineering school,” said Daniel J. Elsener, president of Marian University. “It is Marian’s mission to ensure we provide access to students who have the drive and academic curiosity to become ethically grounded engineers who will positively influence their industries and communities.”

Opening to its first class of students in Fall 2022, the E. S. Witchger School of Engineering will expand Marian University’s vision as a Catholic university to offer Bachelor of Engineering degrees rooted in the liberal arts tradition with the goal of graduating a diverse pipeline of talented leaders. The school will offer degrees in biomedical, chemical, civil, computer, mechanical engineering, as well as engineering physics. The new, state-of-the-art building that will house the new school is under construction and will open Fall 2023.

“As we begin to attract our inaugural class of students for the fall semester of 2022, we are committed to providing competitive financial plans to our engineering students, in alignment with Marian University’s vision to develop transformational and diverse leaders for service to the world,” said Binh Tran, Ph.D., founding dean of the E. S. Witchger School of Engineering at Marian University.
