Marketing major selected for 2019 Orr Fellowship

by Julia Kelb and Susan Sullivan | Mar 07, 2019
Kylee Kasper | Marian UniversityOnce again, a Marian University senior from the Byrum School of Business has been selected for a highly competitive and prestigious Orr Fellowship.

Kylee Kasper ’19 was named an Orr Fellow after accepting a job offer from Genesys, a technology enterprise that helps more than 11,000 companies in 100 countries deliver seamless multichannel customer experiences from marketing to sales and service.

A marketing major and communication minor, Kasper will graduate from Marian on Saturday, May 4, 2019 when she joins hundreds of other graduates for the university's annual Commencement Ceremony.

Kasper is the fourth marketing major from Marian selected for the honor since 2016. Fellows are selected from a competitive pool of more than 1,100 applicants. On average, just six percent of those who apply are accepted each year.

The organization actively recruits applications from students at more than 25 Midwestern colleges and universities, enabling host companies to access high-caliber, talented college graduates.

“I received my offer from Genesys while I was home for winter break. It was probably the best Christmas gift I've ever gotten,” Kasper said.

The two-year post-graduation experience sets out to provide fellows with full-time salaried positions, opportunities to hone leadership and business skills, and an unmatched professional network. Participants complete a unique curriculum designed to challenge and further their professional development through mentoring and acquiring new skills for career excellence and success.

“I felt very prepared entering the Orr recruitment process because of the leadership experiences I've had here at Marian,” she noted. “The Exchange is a great resource for career assistance and they helped me create a new resume specifically tailored for the fellowship.”

In fact, Kasper almost didn't apply for an Orr Fellowship. "My advice for any student thinking about this opportunity is to be confident and don't fear the possibility of rejection because you never know what might happen unless you try,” Kasper added.

Through the fellowship, Kasper hopes to expand her professional network and gain experience.

“I am so excited to be an Orr Fellow. It is such a wonderful opportunity. I can't wait to get started,” Kasper said.
