Meet the Staff: John Armitage

by Julia Kelb | Mar 10, 2017
John ArmitageJohn Armitage, director of integration and application architecture, started his information technology career in the United States Marine Corps working on supply chain software for medical supplies and ammunition. Armitage initially came to Marian University six years ago to focus on data integrations with campus systems, off-site systems, and data providers.

Armitage explained that much of his time is spent focused on how the different computer systems used on campus interact. He writes code, watches system instrumentation, and meets with faculty and staff to discuss ways technology can help them accomplish their goals.

Q&A with John Armitage

Q:
What has been your favorite part of working at Marian?

A: Definitely the people. The faculty and staff here are some of the nicest people I have ever worked with.

Q: Outside of work, what do you like to do?

A: I really enjoy volunteering with youth sports and the Boy Scouts. I don’t have many spare moments these days, but when I find one, I like to drop a line in the water and see if I can find a fish that will bite it.

Q: If there was a karaoke night on campus, what song would you perform?

A: Something by Johnny Cash or Neil Diamond. It would be embarrassing for both me and the people that had to watch it.
