A Collection of Bronze and Indiana Limestone

Either OarA Collection of Bronze and Indiana Limestone, featuring artwork created by Cheryl Lorance, will be on display in the Marian University Art Gallery located in the Michael A. Evans Center for Health Sciences from February 27 – March 31, 2017.  An opening reception of the exhibit will be held March 16, from 4-6 p.m. A mold making workshop led by Lorance will take place on March 17, 2017 from 10-11:30 a.m. in the Marian University Art Gallery located in the Michael A. Evans Center for Health Sciences. The exhibit, reception and workshop are generously funded by the Talbot Street Art Fair and are free and open to the public.

Lorance’s sculptures are a product of her multi-faceted experiences as an artist and educator. In 1994 Lorance received a BFA in painting and sculpture from Ball State University. In 1996 Lorance moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico where she had a six-year career as a goldsmith and worked at bronze art foundries. Lorance moved back to Indiana where she earned her MA in sculpture from Ball State University in 2000.   Lorance has been awarded various grants and awards such as the Stutz Residency Program in 2014-15.  In the summer of 2016, she was the artist in residence at the T.C. Steele State Historic Site, and she is the 2017 Arts in the Park grant recipient for Spring Mill State Park, where she will carve a limestone memorial for the park. 

Lorance has taught workshops in mold making, bronze casting and patination, egg tempera painting, and exhibited in juried shows and galleries nationally.  Currently, Lorance is an adjunct professor for the Ivy Tech Community College Fine Art Department.

The Marian University Art Gallery is located on the west end of the second floor Marian Hall on the Marian University campus.
