One-day pilgrimages include prayer and reflection as we travel to sacred spaces. Periodic retreats are offered through overnight, single day, and busy person retreat opportunities.
Pilgrimages reflect our Catholic identity by providing an opportunity for students to take time out of their busy lives to reflect on their faith and relationship with God. When possible, a student leader is mentored to lead and direct the retreat. Utilizing their own spiritual gifts, they are challenged to consider the goals of the pilgrimage and the spiritual needs of the participants.
Pilgrimages are an opportunity to travel to locations that reflect our Catholic, Franciscan, and Christian beliefs. Past destinations have included St. Meinrad for the Year of Mercy, Philadelphia to see Pope Francis, the Shrine of Christ Passion in St. John Indiana, and Turkey Run State Park to reflect on God's presence in nature.
This program is available for graduate students enrolled in Marian University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. The formation incorporates prayer, fellowship, discussion, and spiritual direction.
The formation activities include readings and discussions from Franciscan, spiritual, and medical sources, prayer, retreats, hospitality and fellowship, spiritual direction, and collaboration in clinical settings. The FPVP builds upon a progression of physician vocational formation, paying careful attention to the ebb and flow of the challenging osteopathic curriculum and clinical practice.
Applications are received during the first semester of the student's first year in medical school. The program begins in the second semester.
The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is an exploration of Catholic teaching, prayer, and life. Participants may be interested in seeking full membership in the Catholic Church through Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist, or simply want to learn more about the Catholic faith.
Spiritual direction is a prayerful process that helps students recognize God's presence in their already active prayer lives, through conversation with a trained spiritual guide.
