Mailroom information and policies

The Mailroom handles all mail and packages for students, faculty and staff.

Location: Marian Hall, room 063

Fall and spring semester hours of operation
Monday through Thursday: 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m.
Friday: 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Saturday: 11 a.m.-1 p.m.

Semester break hours of operation
Monday through Friday 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Services provided for students

  • Mail letters and packages through United States Postal Service (USPS) and United Parcel Service (UPS)
    • Packages can be sent USPS Priority mail which includes a tracking number and insurance
    • For an additional fee packages can require signature
    • Packages can be sent throughout the United States or to most other countries
  • Drop-off pre-paid packages for UPS and USPS
  • Pick-up packages
  • Shipping supplies:
    • Stamps are sold at the rate set by the United State Post office
      • Stamps: $0.50 each as of January 21, 2018
      • Book of stamps (20 Stamps): $10.00 as of January 21, 2018
    • Regular envelopes: $0.10
    • 9x12 envelopes: $0.20

Mail and packages for students

Mail for undergraduate students
Residence Hall Assistants deliver letters to individual mailboxes in the residence halls Monday-Friday. Students are encouraged to check their mailbox frequently. Questions regarding individual mailboxes in the residence halls should be directed to the Resident Director.

Packages for undergraduate students
Packages from USPS, UPS, and FedEx are delivered every week day to the mailroom. You will receive an email from the mailroom when your package is ready to be picked up. Emails are sent to Marian University emails. Packages that are not picked up within two weeks of delivery will be returned to sender unless other arrangements are made in writing before the two week period is up.

Mail and Packages for Overlook at Riverdale
All mail and packages will be delivered to the mailroom. Residential mail will be delivered to Overlook on a daily basis and put into the mailboxes by Overlook staff.

Smaller packages that can fit into mailboxes measurements of length: 14.5 inches/ 12 inches wide/ 1.5 inches tall will be sent to Overlook. Packages that are slightly large will be put into the larger mailboxes as space allows. Residents will be notified by email when a package is delivered to Overlook. Packages that are too large for the mailboxes measurement will need to be picked up by the resident. Residents will be notified by email when a package is in the mailroom.

Students must pick up package(s) from the mailroom in a two-week period or package will be returned, unless other arrangements are made in writing.

From Marian University (package):
The Mailroom will fill out a shipping label for most packages being sent via USPS and UPS. The shipping cost can be charged to the student account or paid with cash or check. Faculty and staff can charge to department accounts when an account number is provided.

Refrigeration and freezer policies

Notification will be made as soon as package is received in the Mailroom and cooling will be provided for packages clearly marked as needing these services.

Flower policies

Persons who receive flowers will be notified with an email to their Marian University email account. Individuals are responsible to picking up their flowers quickly after being notified. The Mailroom is not responsible for flowers that are not picked up by individuals after being notified.

Mail forwarding

Mail will be forwarded to the local address in the CAMS student portal for the six months after being a Marian University resident. Addresses must be updated by the student in the CAMS student portal.
