Research Opportunities

Independent research projects are available to enhance a student’s research skills. Students work one-on-one with a faculty member to complete an original project which can be presented at a research conference and/or published.

Examples of recent research topics include:

  • Parents and young adult identity development
  • Adjustment of child and adolescent burn survivors
  • Childhood victimization and adult social abilities
  • Health behaviors and hypochondria in adopted adults
  • Imagery, anxiety and sport performance
  • Personality and attitude predictors of student success
  • Organizational support, cynicism, and work behavior


Internship opportunities for psychology students are available year round. Internships are designed to provide exposure to a career field of interest to the student and combines direct professional experience with academic and personal reflection.

Internship placements are very diverse but include areas of such as school counseling, addictions, domestic violence, disabilities, social work, marketing research, human resources, occupational/physical therapy, law, medicine, and animal behavior.
