Crystal Vicars-Pugh

Crystal has always been considered a free spirit and an adventurer. As a young child, Crystal enjoyed skipping rocks, climbing trees, and sliding down Peanut Butter Hill in the woods behind her childhood home. On the days she could not be outdoors Crystal could be found drawing and painting at the kitchen table or crafting designer outfits for her stuffed animals.

Crystal's artistic passion guided her to receive a B.F.A and M.F.A in painting. Although her first love is painting, Crystal has been considered a jackie-of-all-trades. Not limiting herself to one medium or career path. From 2009-2010 she served the Interim Gallery Director at Indiana State University. From 2012-2016 Crystal was an adjunct instructor at numerous universities in Indianapolis including Ivy Tech Community College, University of Indianapolis and Herron School of Art and Design.

Crystal joined Marian University in 2016 as the 3-D studio art professor and Marian University Gallery Director. Her love for the outdoors and experimental spirit is ever-present in her studio pedagogy. On numerous occasions you will find Professor Vicars-Pugh and her students hiking at the Marian University Ecolab for inspiration or creating outdoor sculptures out of found objects on campus.
