Cindy Carr has spent more than 30 years working one-on-one with undergraduate students. For the first 20 years or so, it was through the ‘language’ of classical music, in her previous career as a French horn performer and teacher. Today, she works with non-native speakers of English as they improve their academic reading and writing skills, their speaking fluency, and their listening proficiency. Carr has been on the faculty of Lawrence University (Wisconsin) and the University of Delaware, and is currently the assistant director for student affairs in the Program for Intensive English at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), as well as a teacher in the program. She has also taught in the English for Academic Purposes Program at IUPUI, has tutored at the IUPUI Writing Center, and has published and presented in the field of Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL). Cindy holds an M.A. in English from IUPUI with a Certificate in TESOL and a Certificate in Teaching Writing.
