Our peer consultants can help you with any stage of the speech-making process: topic selection, research, organizing, outlining, and delivery. Our podcast room includes all the equipment you need to begin podcasting! We can help you with planning, software guidance, and other steps to get started.

Our Services
Speaking Studio Consultations
Meet one-on-one with a peer tutor for help with all stages of the speech-development process: brainstorming and research, outlining, and delivery. We also offer strategies for dealing with public speaking anxiety. Our regular consultation options
include:
- In-person appointments.
- Online appointments.
- Bilingual appointments in Spanish (online and in-person) and in French (in person).
- Mock interviews. We’ve partnered with the Exchange to offer you practice for your upcoming internship, scholarship, or job interview!
- Visual aid assistance
We do not provide interpersonal communication assistance but welcome inquiries about and cohosting/participating in events on such topics. Email academiccommons@marian.edu for more.

We have workshops on podcasting and other multimedia frequently. Please check out our Instagram for updated listings.
- Classroom visits: A tutor/our coordinator will visit your class to explain our offerings.
- Personalized classroom visits (email academiccommons@marian.edu or mediacenter@marian.edu to develop).
- Class visits to the media center, including ones in which students can experiment with the equipment.
- Videos for your class. (Current videos include advice for students on communicating with professors.)
- Collaborations on events.

Bio
Hello! I’m Timothy Hosford, a senior religious education and English major from Dayton, Ohio.
This’ll be my third year with the speaking studio. I am also a fourth-year competitor on Marian's
speech and debate team. My hope is to serve the Marian community by bringing performing
experience and a positive attitude to aid you in your speech's journey. I specialize in developing
speech writing, interpretive skills, and delivery. I am excited to help you grow in your public-
speaking skills!

Bio
Hi! I am Tara Cofie, a second-year biology student with a focus in pre-medicine. I have many
previous years of experience in speech and debate and have always had a love for learning and
building relationships. I am currently an RA on campus as well and take a lot of pride in my
abilities to problem solve and serve my community here on campus. In my free time I tend to
enjoy movie marathons, running, trying new foods, and experiencing various forms of art. I am
thrilled for one of my many titles here at Marian to be speaking studio consultant!

Hi, my name is Julian Johnson. I am a fourth-year student-athlete, with a major in graphic design and a minor in communication and business. I am also a member of the Marian University wrestling team. I graduated from Avon High School in 2019 and will be graduating from Marian in 2024. This is my first semester as a multimedia consultant, and I plan to be a helpful resource to the department and to anyone who is looking to learn about media and media production!

Olivier LifrangeSpeaking Studio Consultant
Bio
Hi! My name is Olivier Lifrange. I’m an international student-athlete who is part of the track and
field team. Born in Brussels, Belgium, I spent my life in Belgium until the end of high school. I
wanted to pursue higher education abroad while still being able to run track at a high intensity.
The United States and Marian more specifically ended up being the perfect place to do this! I’m
studying finance and business analytics and plan on graduating in Spring 2025. Since I enjoy
working with others, I’m excited to start this Fall 2022 semester as a consultant at the speaking
studio.

Hi! My name is Mariangel Morales, and I'm from Venezuela, but I have been living for the past
five and a half years in Indianapolis, IN. I'm a third-year nursing student, speech and debate
team member, Student Nurses’ Association member, Students for HOPE vice president, SOL
member, and ASA social media chair. I really enjoy reading and painting when I'm not studying
or spending time with my family. I’m looking forward to working with you!

Hi! My name is Nate Rodenburg, and I'm a senior and third-year consultant here at the
speaking studio. I am working toward becoming a secondary education history teacher, and I'm
also a part of the Marian speech and debate team. I've been getting into Dungeons and
Dragons recently and have been using it to practice writing narratively. Anyway, can't wait to

My name is Natalie Rund, and I am a third year here at Marian University. I am studying
elementary education with a minor in psychology. This is my third year on the Marian speech
and debate team, and this will be my eleventh year competing in this wonderful organization. I
enjoy spending time with my friends and family, snuggling with my amazing dog Zeke, and
genuinely doing things that make me happy. I am excited to work with you and hope to see you

Hello! My name is Lydia Shock. I am a junior political science and sociology major. In addition to
that, I am involved in speech and debate and am the president for the Marian Alliance. I love
