Are you interested in gaining leadership experience and assisting students who live in one of our on-campus communities?.

  • We seek students who are organized, ethical, flexible, responsible, calm under pressure, helpful, willing to learn, confident, passionate, and who want to create a positive learning environment for their peers.

Being an RA can provide you with skills in leadership, conflict resolution and mediation, time management, and creativity.

How to apply

  • The RA application will be available on November 1, 2019. Visit Handshake to apply. Upload your resume which will be reviewed by staff at The Exchange. Please allow two business days for your resume to be reviewed. 

New applicants

  • Attach your resume and answers to essay questions to the Handshake application. Two letters of recommendation, one from a faculty or professional staff member and one from a current or past Residential and Commuter Life staff member, are required. The individual writing the recommendation for you should email their letter to housing@marian.edu.
  • Your application and all supporting materials MUST be submitted by noon on Friday, January 31, 2020.

Returning applicants​

  • Attach your resume and answers to essay questions to the Handshake application. A digital presentation should also be submitted to your Area Coordinator.
  • Your application and all supporting materials MUST be submitted by noon on Friday, January 31, 2020.

Interview process

New applicants

  • If all requirements are met, you may be asked to participate in interviews held Saturday, February 15, 2020.
  • You will be notified about hiring decisions via email on Friday, February 21, 2020.

Returning applicants

  • If all requirements are met, you may be asked to participate in interviews held February 13-14, 2020.
  • You must prepare a presentation on some aspect of the Resident Assistant position to present to the professional staff team.
  • You will be notified about hiring decisions via email on Friday, February 21, 2020.

Qualifications:

  • Must be a full-time Marian University student
  • Must be in good academic and social standing at time of application and during employment
  • Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.50 at time of application and during employment
  • Must have lived on a university/college campus for the period of at least one semester
  • Must attend one Resident Assistant Information Session (new applicants only)
  • Must be available for the Interview Day (new applicants only)
  • Must be available for the entire duration of all training sessions (training dates to be determined and posted at a later date).

Timeline:

  • November 1: Applications available on Handshake
  • January 31: Applications and supporting materials due
  • February 13-14: Returning Resident Assistant interviews
  • February 15: New Resident Assistant interview day
  • February 21: Decision letters will be delivered via email
  • February 28: Acceptance or declination of hiring offer due
