Does my room have air conditioning (AC)?

  • All residence halls at Marian University are air conditioned.

Is there cable television in the residence halls?

  • Cable TV connections are available in all rooms, but you'll need your own television.

What type of flooring is in my room?

  • Your residence hall room is not carpeted, but you may bring your own wall-to-wall or area rugs if you wish. Refer to the room dimensions on the residence hall page for sizing (all room dimensions are approximate).

How do I connect to the Internet from my room?

  • Our residence halls offer wireless computer access (Wi-Fi). Please make sure your computer is set up prior to your arrival on campus to ensure your account is activated. For specific questions about computer settings to access the campus network, please go to IT FAQ.

What furniture is provided?

  • Our room furniture is provided by University Loft. Each room includes one bed frame, a twin extra long mattress, desk and desk chair, clothes closet, and a dresser for each resident. Furniture MUST remain in rooms and may not be removed.

What should I pack?

  • Here is a list of items to pack and items to leave at home. If you have a roommate, be sure to talk with them to avoid bringing duplicates of shared items!

Should I bring money for laundry?

  • You can do your laundry free of charge in our residence halls. Laundry rooms are located in the lower levels of Doyle, Clare, and University Halls. In Drew Hall, the laundry room is located on the first floor. If you notice washer or dryer is malfunctioning, please notify your RA or submit a work order to have it fixed. Do I need renter's insurance?

  • Yes, if you want insurance that protects your personal belongings while living on campus. The National Student Services, INC (NSSI) offers renter's and personal property insurance coverage for college students to protect phones, computers, laptops, tablets, TVs, microwaves, and more. Their coverage is recognized at 2,500 colleges and universities, including Marian University. Visit for information and to review their renter's insurance brochure.

Who is my roommate?

  • Roommate and room assignments will go out based on when you apply for housing:
    • Applications received before May 1 will assigned before May 31, 2019.
    • Applications received before June 1 will be assigned before June 30, 2019.
    • Applications received before July 1 will be assigned before July 15, 2019.
    • Applications received after July 1 will be assigned on a rolling basis.
  • We will email you a packet of information that includes your residence hall room number and contact information for your new roommate. We encourage you to reach out to your new roommate to get acquainted before you arrive on campus, if possible.

What are the residence hall policies?

  • All students should review our residence hall policies and Code of Student Rights and Responsibilities. Students are responsible for knowing these rules and agree to abide by said policies when signing a housing contract.

Where can I store my belongings over break?

  • We do not offer storage for student belongings other than that inside your residence hall room. Some students and families, especially those not from the local area, may wish to have extra space for personal property.
