Saint Joseph’s College of Marian University -
Indianapolis Class of 2021
Leonardo Ibarra Ortiz
High School: Columbus North High School
For Leo Ortiz, the hour drive to campus every day has been a
grind. However, the experiences as a student at Saint Joseph’s College of
Marian University – Indianapolis (Saint Joe Indy) have been worth it.
“I am humbled and grateful for the opportunity to be a student
at Saint Joe Indy. The professors here really care about us students. They go
above and beyond education. They check in on their students’ well-being, both
inside and outside of the classroom,” Ortiz said.
The earn and learn program at Saint Joe Indy is what caught Ortiz’s
attention when applying.
“Initially, I was looking at attending Marian as a four-year
student, but the two-year college stood out because of the ability to gain
real-world experience so early on into your college career,” Ortiz said.
Upon graduation from Saint Joe Indy, Ortiz will transition to
being a student at Marian University in the Byrum School of Business.
“As I look forward to being a student on the main campus, I will
continue to carry my mom and my sister with me,” Ortiz said. “They are my
motivation. My sister is my role model and has set an example for our family.
She is the first to get her degree, and I look forward to following in her
footsteps.”
To his family, his greatest inspiration, he shares, "Gracias
por el constante apoyo y por todo lo que han hecho por mi, no sería el hombre
que soy ahora sin cada uno de ustedes. Siempre estaré agradecido. Los quiero
mucho."
Congratulations on graduating, Leo! We cannot wait to see what
the future has in store for you as a graduate of Saint Joe Indy.
