Planning Ahead

Bringing Belongings to Campus

We encourage students and families to consider bringing their student's belongings with them or planning time once on campus to purchase needed items in the local area. If you have questions regarding what items are and are not permitted on campus, please click here.

Move-In Assistance

If you are a student or guest with mobility challenges and will need assistance with move-in, please contact the Office of Residential and Commuter Life as soon as possible at MUACHousing@marian.edu.

Move-In Day Schedule: What to Expect

New Students: August 19 | Returning Students: August 20

Check your emails for more information! Some athletic teams and other groups move to campus early. If you believe you qualify for an early move in date, please contact MUACHousing@marian.edu for more information. Check-in when you arrive to campus with housing to begin moving in and find your next steps.

Move-In Tips and Instructions

To make your move-in experience as smooth as possible, here are some tips and instructions.

  • Do not bring family pets with you.
  • Please be mindful that there is ongoing construction on campus. Detours may be required to arrive at your desired destination. Large vehicles like U-Haul trucks and trailers may be difficult to maneuver on campus.
  • While there is no limit on the size of vehicle students can bring on move-in day, most students bring one carload of belongings with them.

Your housing assignment will be sent to your Marian University email address. Please be sure to check your spam filter or junk mail folder to ensure your housing assignment packet is not improperly filtered into one of these categories.

On-Campus Insurance

Do you want insurance that protects your personal belongings while living on campus? The National Student Services, INC (NSSI) offers renter's and personal property insurance coverage for college students to protect phones, computers, laptops, tablets, TVs, microwaves, and more. Their coverage is recognized at 2,500 colleges and universities, including Marian University. Visit nssi.com for information and to review their renter's insurance brochure.

Personalizing Your Living Space

In order to minimize the risk of damage to walls and other surfaces, painter's tape and 3M Command™ products are the preferred tools for hanging items in your room. Any damage to the walls or other surfaces of the room will result in a fine. The fine amount will be determined by the type and amount of damage sustained.

Students are welcome to customize their rooms with art, area rugs, and other personal items.
