Homecoming and Family Weekend 2022 Schedule

Thursday, September 29

  • HoCo/FW Kick-Off Happy Hour for Faculty and Staff, 3:30- 5 p.m., Tent, featuring Marian University Jazz Band 
  • Global Studies Speaker Series Event - David Tsetse, Global Lead and Senior Advisor, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene at Catholic Relief Services , 6 p.m., MU Theatre
    • Global Water Security: Problems and Opportunities

    Dr. David Tsetse is a Ghanaian-American with over 22 years of professional experience in water, sanitation, hygiene, and environment program design, resource mobilization, strategy development, and implementation. He is the Global Lead of Water, Sanitation, Hygiene, and Environment at Catholic Relief Services. Before joining Catholic Relief Services, Dr. Tsetse worked at the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) for over 14 years with long-term assignments in Ethiopia, Eritrea, Kenya, Sudan, Denmark, and the USA. He has a Ph.D. in Environment and Development from Leiden University, an MBA in Engineering Management from the University of Manchester UK, an MSc in Environmental Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark, and a B.Sc. (Hons) in Geology from the University of Ghana. David is the author of the book Environmental Management in Development Countries. An Opportunity and Problem in Context Approach (2010).

Friday, September 30

  • $5 Friday in the Dining Commons, 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
    • All families and alumni are invited to dine in the Dining Commons with MU students.
    • No R.S.V.P. required; payment via cash or credit card at the door.
  • Alumni and Family Happy Hour, 5:30- 7 p.m., Stokely Mansion
    • The evening will be hosted by President and Mrs. Elsener at the Stokely Mansion. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and hors d'oeuvres available. Photo opportunity available for family and alumni photos. R.S.V.P. required in advance.
  • Dinner served in Dining Commons, 4:30- 7:30 p.m.
    • $10 pay at the door cash or credit.
  • Lip Sync Battle: 7-9 p.m., Alumni Hall
  • MU-COM SGA Drive In Movie Night: Thor: Love and Thunder, 30th Street Parking Lot
    • $5/Car - FREE for Marian Students with Student ID

Saturday, October 1

  • Celebration of Wellness 5k Presented by the Marian University College of Osteopathic Medicine, 8 a.m. - Register HERE
  • Rosary Walk, 9:30 a.m.
    • Meet fellow alumni and families at the Blessed Mother Shrine and Rosary Walk near Doyle Hall to pause and pray on this special weekend. Sponsored by Campus Ministry and San Damiano Scholars.
  • Football Tailgating, 10 a.m. - SPOTS ARE SOLD OUT
    • Plan to come to the game early on Saturday and tailgate with us before the Knights' kickoff. The Marian University Alumni Association will be hosting tailgates for the milestone classes around the lot for you to reconnect with old classmates and enjoy the weather.
    • Pre-Sale purchase of Football Tickets!  Please visit: to join us on Saturday, October 1st!

  • Coffee with President Elsener and First Lady Beth Elsener, 10- 11 a.m., Alumni Hall
    • President and Mrs. Elsener invite you to stop in for coffee and light refreshments before enjoying the tailgate festivities. President Elsener will welcome guests and provide university updates @ 10:15.

  • Knightro's Alley 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.
    • Meet the deans from each school as well as faculty and support staff for all Marian students.
  • Saint John’s Bible, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Mother Theresa Hacklemeier Library

    • Check out the Saint John’s Bible (SJB), the first hand illumined Bible since the invention of the printing press.  One of our student docents will be able to assist you in engaging and encountering the illustrations and sacred text from one of the seven volumes of the Saint John’s Bible
  • Campus Tours, 11 a.m.- 12:30 p.m., Departing flag near Alumni Hall every half hour
    • Get a tour of campus with an Admissions Ambassador of old and new buildings and reminisce over how things were when you were a student or to experience life as a current student on campus.
  • Picnic Lunch on the Quad, 11 a.m.- 1 p.m.,
    • Come tailgate with us! Picnic style food fare and atmosphere await your arrival on Saturday!
    • Fun for families and alumni with inflatables, yard games, DJ, photo opportunities, and other activities.

      • Current Marian University students may use a dining swipe for access with student ID. No guest swipes may be used at this event. Students do not need to register. 
  • Alumni Choir Performance - The National Anthem - Meet at 12:15 p.m.
    • We are welcoming all choir alumni to perform the National Anthem with the Knight Chorale. Meet in Steffen Music Center MC 108 to rehearse and walk to St. Vincent Field together. If interested, fill out this form. 
  • Knights vs Taylor Football Game, 1:05 p.m., St. Vincent Field - Tickets Required
  • Marian University Rugby, 1 p.m., Rugby Field 

  • Mass celebrating Knight Alumni and Families, 4:30 p.m., Bishop Chartrand Chapel
  • Knights vs Spring Arbor Volleyball Game, 5 p.m., John Grimes Court
  • Knights vs Bethel Women's Soccer Game - Senior Day, 7:30 p.m., St. Vincent Field
  • 50th and 55th Reunion Class Celebration
    • 5:30 p.m. Reception & Dinner - Alumni Hall
    • 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. Live Entertainment: 45 RPM – all are welcome to come enjoy this great British Invasion band! - Alumni Hall
  • Casino Night for Students, 8-10 p.m., the Hall of Champions

Sunday, October 2

  • Mass in St. Joseph's Chapel, 9:30 a.m. 
  • Brunch available in Dining Commons, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., $9 per person pay at the door cash or credit
  • Class of 1967 Brunch at the Iron Skillet – RSVP requested. 12 p.m.
  • Knights Softball Alumni Game, 1 p.m.
